OUR AUTODESK UNIVERSITY 2021 ARTICLE ON FORGE, MACHINE LEARNING, AND AEC DESIGN IS AMONG THE TOP 10 AU2021 ARTICLES

2022-01-17

Autodesk University 2021 was concluded back in October. For the past two years, I had the pleasure of contributing to two classes in 2020, one class in 2021, and one article in 2021, which was based on one of the 2020 classes. (Links can be found at the bottom of this article)

That article, titled “Combining Forge and Machine Learning to Automate Time-Consuming Design Tasks” and written by Rana Zeitouny and myself, aimed to introduce two concepts: machine learning, and Forge, with focus on the Forge Design Automation API, which back then was still a newly released product.

The article aimed to clarify and define both concepts and to illustrate both by showing a couple of real case Forge Design Automation for Revit apps that were developed back in 2019 (as soon as Design Automation for Revit went public) by us at Bird Tools to be integrated at EMDC Group, and that combined both DA4R and machine learning to automate a couple of repetitive tasks that are encountered by designers on a daily basis.

That article has recently been awarded a Top AU2021 article award, and featured among the top 10 articles published at Autodesk University during 2021.

Proud to be featured on that list and to be among the few pioneering developers that took on the task of integrating Forge Design Automation apps since the technology went public, and to be a first-hand source of knowledge that other developers seek to gain knowledge about Forge as a platform of the future and to be an inspiration to others in that field.

2022 will be the year where we will be featuring tons of new applications, articles, tutorials, open source samples and hopefully AU classes and articles about Forge and its BIM 360, Data Management, Viewer, webhook, model derivative, and Design Automation APIs…

…so stay tuned! The upcoming Forge related project will be a Revit add-in that will be using Forge to automate many of BIM 360’s boring tasks. The project, codenamed “Articuno”, is half done as of this date.
